Back in 2010 I was admitted into hospital with blood clots on my lungs and spent the next six months on Warfarin with frequent visits to my local GP. I was only 35 when this happened with two young children. It was very scary, one minute I was sitting in my local health centre and the next I was in an ambulance being rushed into hospital.
It was difficult to breath and the pain was excruciating when I lay down. Although this was a side effect of the pill, Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT’s) run in my family; my mum has had several and has to use compression socks regularly.

After recommendation from my doctor I purchased some travel socks. At that time I didn’t have any forthcoming travel arrangements and only recently have taken a long flight. I wanted some socks that were going to be comfortable without looking old-fashioned, which was proving more difficult than it thought.
After a bit of research, I decided to go for the Milkteds, they looked great and were available in lots of different colours. Although the packaging said they “gently provide you with a massage”, I didn’t know if it would make any difference; but I am pleased to say they were great; the special rippled area at the base of your foot did make a big difference. They were easy to pop on and didn’t cut into you under the knee either.
As my flight was in the evening, I was planning on wearing tight jeans but I wasn’t sure if they would fit under them, but they just looked and felt like normal socks. I couldn’t believe how comfortable they actually were! I loved them and I now wear them regularly especially under my boots, I don’t have to worry how they look because you wouldn’t know they were different from normal sock.
